Great look Antonio! Ironically, my wife is in the process of being placed on a roller derby team under the Jacksonville Rollergirls organization. Her derby name will be 'Kilted Chaos' and her 'uniform' is the super-mini SK loud McLeod with fishnets For her first competition bout, she has asked me to kilt up and assist her and the team as a NSO (non-scoring official). I can't wait - gonna be a HEAP 'o FUN!

That tartan is smokin'! So...how do you get a gig taking photos of roller derby girls? That's second only to the guy who got the piping gig playing for the Victoria's Secret show .
FWIW, pull 'er up a bit and it'll look twice as good! You've got it at your pants waist...hang 'er from your natural waist, belt up, and it'll look awesome! Most kilts...other than kilts meant to hang from the pants waist...will have a 2" rise or so, meaning two inches or thereabouts above the bellybutton. Another way to doublecheck is to simply kneel on the floor while kilted...pull the top of the kilt up or down as required to get the kilt just barely brushing the floor...stand, and you've got it!
Kilt on,
Sean

Ok, so I had it at my belly button, are you saying it should be higher??
Hey Scott, keep in touch man... I run with the Molly Roger crew and am in training to be a referee , so you'll be seeing me at some of the local bouts both here on the Space Coast and in Jax. I'll be in Talahasee in a few weeks with them, are you going?

If your natural waist is at your navel---and it may or may not be, but usually is close---then probably that's where the straps go. It should also stay up better, if the straps are settled at the waist.
Try putting your hands at the waist; then lean left and right to feel where the natural indentation is. You may be one of those guys who were left out when the waists were distributed, in which case you just cinch the straps in well, or add a belt when needed. Most of us, though, have some kind of sweet spot for the straps.

You bet, brutha! Like fluter mentioned, the straps on my kilt are about at navel height on me, and when I crank them down, the kilt doesn't move, despite my waist being a little larger than my pants waist . It'll be a lot easier if you try the kneeling/floor reference...you'll see what I mean. Hem at the top of the patella, turnover just above the widest part of the calf, it makes a HUGE difference in how the kilt looks.
It might feel weird at first...ok, it will feel strange...since it's so much higher than your pants waist...my kilt has a 1" rise, and that's plenty for me. Any more, and one's shirt starts looking awfully short, if tucked in .
If you don't dig that height on your torso, try the kilts made to be worn at the pants waist. It makes much more difference in the way it looks depending on where the hem falls in relation to your knee, than where it hangs from your torso!
