Proud wife of an Irishman
I can't understand how any wife wouldn't want her husband to parade around in a kilt. I am proud beyond belief that my husband is so secure in his manhood that he not only wears kilts he makes the other guys look like wimps. It isn't wrong to not only be proud of your heritage everyone should know where they came from. His ancestry is easily traceable and nothing to be ashamed of or hidden. My husband owns 4 kilts each for a different group. Since I am a woman I own a kilt but don't get as much attention when I wear it. To all the ladies out there, take another look at why your significant other wears a kilt, it should impress you.

My wife pretended not to notice me in my new kilt when she came to collect me from the airport last weekend. By the end of the (kilted) weekend, she was even holding my hand in the supermarket (albeit reluctantly). She'll get used to it. Persevere!

Like Bugbear said, "Happily single "
The only attention I get is positive attention. I am sure there are those who disapprove, but as far as I know, they keep to themselves.
If a lady comes along who likes me but not the kilt, she can keep walking.

OK - well you just use positive reinforcement.
When you wear your kilt, be more attentive, romantic, helpful - don't overdo it, or you'll be rumbled in a minute, just do slightly more smiling, listening and stay closer.
When you wear trousers be slightly preocupied, wander off and find something to do or talk about what you are planning, or yourself in general.
Be subtle!!!

"The Highland dress is essentially a 'free' dress, -- that is to say, a man's taste and circumstances must alone be permitted to decide when and where and how he should wear it... I presume to dictate to no man what he shall eat or drink or wherewithal he shall be clothed." -- The Hon. Stuart Ruaidri Erskine, The Kilt & How to Wear It, 1901.

I did learn a bit about what colors I should avoid wearing, like bright orange or yellow, from her, so...
So no Buchanan tartan?

I AM attemtive! And I wander off occasionally (blame it on the ADD). The thing is, she scoffs and rolls her eyes and has never even SEEN me in the kilt! I just got the thing and she saw it in the closet, smirked and walked away...[sigh]
