I take you're in some way involved with Flamingo Kilts then! Well, I feel silly! Never mind. Amerikilts are freakin' awesome- I'm wearing one of mine right now, as a matter of fact. And yes, you can supply your own material. Except tartan. They refuse to make kilts from tartan, which sucks because I would love to have a tartan AK. Oh well- such is life.

Freedom Kilts have done camo, though I'm not current with them.
    AVOID Sportkilt.
    Enjoy the hunting!
That's why I buy Amerikilt, and avoid Utilikilts. Utilikilts are almost double the cost of Amerikilts, and quality is easily comparable. UK have a fat tax- the fatter you are, the more they charge. AK does not.

And Sportkilt... Where do I start? My wife's skirts are beautiful, but my skirt from them is something I never wear- because I wear kilts, and my SportKilt is a skirt. If you want a camo skirt for your wife, go for it. My wife has a SportKilt camo skirt. But for you and your son? As Finn said... "AVOID Sportkilt!"

Flamingo says right on their website that they are not taking orders.

Freedom Kilt - are way nice. Nicer than what you (or I) are looking for right now.

Celtic Warrior gets recommended a lot, but they haven't responded to e-mails or phone calls for months.

Alpha Kilts haven't returned my e-mails, I've been trying for over a week, now.

Amerikilts - I desperately want one of their Olive kilts, just like Nighthawk's - I have been e-mailing and calling them for over 2 weeks now, with my credit card out in my hand. Does anyone know if they are still there?

Alt.kilt - Jeanie is alive and well and taking orders, and does really nice work. Unfortunately Her basic kilt saw a 20% price increase this morning, but for what you get it's still a deal.

OK, I blew off a little steam, I feel better now............

    Rob,
You did not specify which Camo pattern you are interested in.

Is this the sort of thing you are looking for?

These are made from 6 Color Desert Camo. The exact same fabric I wore during Desert Storm.

    I also carry:
    3 Color Desert
    Woodland
    Tiger Stripe
    ACU Digital (US Army)
    MarPat Arid (USMC)
    MarPat Temperate (USMC)
I'm sorry I'm temporaraly out of Pink Death.

All of my camo fabrics are MilSpec. (Military Specification) Yes, the MarPat's have the USMC Eagle Globe and Anchor.

There is a photo around the forum somewhere of one of my kilts after 6 years of hard use. It had been through a motorcycle and car crash, fallen off a cliff, been used to swim in the ocean and been paintballed for 3 seasons. I think it looked pretty good still.

The amount of customization is up to you, as is where you want to wear the waist and the hem.

If this is the sort of thing you are looking for I am simply an email or skype call away.

Their junk mail filter is hard to get around. Try a new email address.

You mean their filter might think my incoming mail is junk mail?

I thought about taking this "off the grid" and asking in a PM, but if I'm wrong about Amerikilts, Mike deserves to have it made right "in public".

    Thanks,
    Tom

Yep!! I had that problem last time I bought from them. I also had it with Celtic Croft...

I'm not sure what the style of camo my son would like is called. I do know it is not one of the "desert" variations. He wants to be able to believe he could "disappear" in our woods. Mainly dark green, dark brown, juniper green, black, some lighter shades of brown, etc. Do you have a link where I can view images of the different colours & patterns? And, also, "pink" anything would very much NOT be one of his color choices . Thanks!

Ok, Steve, I found the page on your site (http://www.freedomkilts.com/fabric.php?val=camo) so I can see the various colours and patterns (mostly -- there's a couple you listed which are not shown). I'll review them with my son. I'm thinking he'll like either Marpat Woodland or possibly Tiger Stripe.
    Thanks again,
    Rob

coming late to the thread Rkilts makes a Paintball kilt in a digital camo.

since they are made for running around in the woods they might be exactly what you are looking for, if you don't mind importing from Ontario.
