Camouflage kilts for father and son?
My son, soon to be fourteen, has expressed a desire to go hiking with dear ole dad while wearing camouflage kilts. This was a bit of a surprise to me as he has not willingly worn a kilt nor expressed a desire to do so since he was five years old.
He would like for us to have matching kilts in a camouflage pattern appropriate to our semi-mountainous high desert juniper and cactus terrain. I would like them to be in some sort of durable and washable fabric. Mine would not need to be quite as tough as his since I am much more mellow in my hiking. He tends to go under instead of over and through instead of around. Mud is also just also just thicker "air" to him and he seems to be able to breathe it just fine.
I have performed some brief searches for camo kilts on the web and have become more confused than enlightened as to what is available -- especially as to how "sturdy" each variety of fabric would be. Pockets and other extensions to the basic kilt merely increase the confusion factor...
Cost is, of course, a significant factor being that I'll be purchasing two kilts - although it's possible he can fit into a child's size as he is quite slender (ahh, those were the days) but probably unlikely.
Can the rabble direct me to vendors or web sites or (__fill in the blank__) which might fit my needs and his desires? I'm especially looking for input from those who have or had kilts in various fabrics and styles fitting the necessary criteria.
Thanks much,
Rob
