Re: Jackobite pv semi-trad????
That's a "busy" tartan. Even though historic, not something I'd buy in to. Maybe one of the others. But until I see something I've no way of knowing what we're talking about here.

Re: Jackobite pv semi-trad????
I agree with Rverkilt. The idea had my interest until I saw the image.
One possible solution might be to use a tartan generator and tweek the colours and possibly even the thread count to create something unique that people can buy into. Admittedly, going that route is a lot more expensive, and would take more subscribers, but it could be achievable.
Sure, the objection might be that it would no longer be the tartan you started out with, but in historical context, perhaps that isn't a big deal. Look at the number of tartans registered as Gordon--I think there are about 20 of them--all with variations in pattern and colour, and some completely different from the others.
Just a thought.

Duh...now I see that the guy with the idea is the guy who posted the tartan pic link...
Gets worse every day....aging ain't for sissies.
Anyhow, that one - I think the historic one - is too busy for me. But hope those who want one can group up and do it. One of the great benefits of this forum is finding like minded folks for a project like this.

I was tentatively interested until I saw the image (entirely too much yellow for my taste). However, I found a Old Jacobtie on Scotweb (woven by Dagleish) that has subdued colors that are more appealing to me.

The one I like is yellow - #1885 STA has it as a "fashion tartan" though it goes back to 1830.

Best view of it is on Tartans by Air, go to J then the first Jacobite #1885. The others are there too. Tartans by Air shows a full page view.
Its "loud" though...

The "old Jacobite" is quite attractive. Yes, I could be tempted.

Hey guys, that "old Jacobite" is great, I hadn't even come across it yet. I instantly liked it better than Lochcarron though. it kind looks historic in its own right for sure.
