I have done business with these guys many, many times over the years. The pricing is as it should be for the items they sell. They have been adding to their inventory of the years to, so the choices are more and they are getting higher quality too. I highly recommend and endorse this company. If I am correct, I believe Mael Coluim has bought from this company too.

As an aside - Matt from "The Scottish Trading Company" has requested our advertising prospectus and may be joining our other advertisers in the near future.

One more satisfied customer. While I have only purchased a few accessories from these folks, the items were as advertised and service was prompt. They also have a few items that I have not seen elsewhere.

Matt and Jenny of The Scottish Trading Company are frequent vendors at the Highland Games and Festivals in the State of Virginia. I have been buying from them the last seven years and can attest to great customer service, quality products at a fair price. When I joined XMTS they were an advertiser here. They have the MC Seal of Approval!

Well, I might have been unclear, sorry my English.
My preference is that if I buy something advertised as a kilt in 16oz heavy weight poly viscose, I do want to get a kilt in 16oz heavy weight poly viscose, not something else. If such thing does not exist, I do not buy anything from that advertiser, or recommend anyone else to do it. You will never know what you get. Low price is no excuse.
The kilt might be a fine "entry kilt", but is it made of 16oz heavy weight poly viscose. If not, there is an ugly word for that... But even unintended mistakes do happen sometimes, even to advertisers.

I'll say upfront that I have had no dealings with this company but from the experiences in this thread, it is obvious that they are heavily focused on real customer service and are rightly proud of their products.
If you really really want a 16 ounce kilt, then I would recommend you go with wool. As a chemist by training, if not by profession, polyviscose yarn woven into cloth at a true 16 ounces to the square yard would be extremely thick and, I suspect, rather uncomfortable.
I have a kilt, not from this company, that was advertised as 16 ounce PV. Is it actually 16 ounce? No but when I asked the vendor before I bought it, they said that it had the look and swing of a 16 ounce kilt. Members of this forum would spot immediately that it wasn't actually 16 ounce but it does behave in a very similar manner, except that it doesn't hold the pleats as cleanly.
I would agree with Mael that these kilts are excellent first kilts or everyday kilts, where you don't want to risk damage to several hundred dollars worth of top quality wool kilt. But it's always your choice. You came to the right place to get clarification. Good luck, whatever your final decision.
Regards, Sav.
