Welcome from Roswell. Do not dry clean if you can AT ALL avoid it. Most dry cleaners use solvents that are good ar removing grease stains. guess what gives wool it's great properties? - Lanolin = fat = grease.
Unless your kilt is really stained badly, spot cleaning works best. A friend who is a weaver says American Family Soap Flakes is better even than Woolite. Read some of the threads on how to press your kilt. If you only wear it for the occasional games or special "do" it won't need pressing but once every 5 years. I have 5 wool kilts, I wear kilts full-time, and have only pressed one once, just after I got it and re-set the buckles.
When you do press it pays to baste the pleats, at least one row at the bottom, preferably 2.
more info than you asked for. Did I warn you not to use dry cleaners?

I like that idea, to Franklin we will go. Can't make the Grandfather Mtn Games this year, (and the MacLarens are the honored clan.) Hope to meet you all at Stone Mountain. Thanks for the advice, I don't think my kilt needs cleaning yet, just wanted to be prepared. Thanks again.
