A quick question for y'all
Not that this matters when it comes to wearing a kilt, but I was curious as to how many of you out there are Scottish? I was born there, but am having some trouble finding a clan tartan. If anyone has any experience finding clan tartans, i could sure use some help.

I am an Irishman. When I married my wife, i was adopted into Clan Gunn. Believe it or not, I find myself quite proud of that.
What is your clan name or do you have any information. I might be able to help you.
Cheers,
Allen

If your last name is Scottish (I assume it is since you were born there) you can just type it into a tartan search thing. I think http://www.tartanfiner.com has one

The problem is that I don't think that my last name is Scottish. As far as I know, Burke, my last name is an Irish name, as is O'Donnell, my mum's maiden name.

For me the ancestory is Macfie. The family moved to Canada in the 1800's from South Uist in the Outer Hebrides. My Dad then moved down to the United States in the 60's (or maybe it was the 70's, I can't quite remember). On his side it's Scottish and Hungarian. On my Mom's side, all kinds of stuff. Some Scottish though on her side (name of Oren as I recall). My Dad's citizenship in Canada was as a "Scottish Canadian" up untill the 1950's when Canadians had their british citzenship taken away. He grew up being a "Scottish Canadian" and so he's passed it down to me. I've always been told that while my citizenship is as an American, at heart, I am really Scottish.

A quick question
My last name is Hailey. It took me two years to find my clan. I went to the Loch Norman Highland Games and checked with a lot of the Clan reps. there. I found the name Haylee at Clan Hay. They told me that a lot of times when someone came into the US the imigration people just spelled names like they sounded. I never found and thing with the tartan search places. Clan Hay isn't even listed in most of them and the Lord High Constable of Scotland is an heredetary title passed on to the clan chiefs of Clan Hay! My mothers name was Rodgers. Robert Rogers, of Rogers Rangers fame, parents were Scottish imigrants. I have never found that name either! Just keep looking, something will turn up!
I've survived DAMN near everything
