If I'm gonna suffer eternal damnation in the bowels of Hell I wanna do it in a hand sewn 16 ounce Lochcarron Strome by Kathy Lare....in the family tartan so all my distant relatives will recognize me...doubt any made it "upstairs."

Sorry to hear your havin' one of those days.
If it's any consequence, my Pastor friend says God likes kilts. As a Christian, I have a hard time believing I'm going to hell for something The Lord likes.
Cheers.

In defense of ignorance.
Just to insert my $0.02 worth...
There is a difference between ignorance and... stupidity/idiocy/crass behaviour/jacka**edness, etc.
In my book, an ignorant person is not necessarily to be treated with disdain. It may be that they simply don't know any better. The gal at the store who curiously asks "is today some sort of Scottish holiday?" is simply ignorant, and a kind return may educate her a bit if she's open to it.
From www.dictionary.com ...
ig·no·rant /ˈɪgnərənt/
–adjective 1. lacking in knowledge or training; unlearned: an ignorant man.
2. lacking knowledge or information as to a particular subject or fact: ignorant of quantum physics.
3. uninformed; unaware.
4. due to or showing lack of knowledge or training: an ignorant statement.
HOW a person reacts to their own ignorance might be cause for harsh return. If they choose to react to their ignorance with a jacka** remark then they may expect the same from me, or I'll simply ignore them.
Ignorants can be educated. Jacka**es are already lost and not worth the breath it takes to answer back!

"troll for the ignorant"
I love it!! They do seem to leap at the bait.

Traditional vs Alternative Kilts
If you lined up an African in a dashiki(sp?), Hindu, Muslim, Thibetan Monk, Geisha, Tahitian in a grass skirt, Bavarian in Leiderhosen(sp?), and a chap in a full dress Highland outfit, I wonder which one would be considered "wierd"? Anyone who finds an authentic ethnic outfit wierd is a moron. I only wear traditional tartans and sporrans, and my reactions are overwhelmingly positive. I wonder if the alternative kilt variations are eliciting negative comments more than the traditional? Can anyone who wears both shed some light?
Cheers!

I get about the same reaction to my black AK as I do to my trad kilts. There are people who just don't like "plaid" and would wear a solid kilt- they just don't know that the things exist.

My wife wants me to get something non tartan. Other than the leather kilt I plan to buy this sumer she may not get her wish. I am not a fan of solid color Kilts. Utilikilts and Amrikilts looks nice and are well made, I even want to buy a survival utilikilt someday, but I like the tartan look better. Just preference.
I think utilikilt pushes for the change a lit and are clearly masculine and at the same time they are a far removed from traditional Scottish style as you can get and still use the name Kilt successfully. I think they do the best push for MUG's to be accepted. Obviously crossdressers to the worst harm to MUG's being accepted in the culture.

I agree. My AK gets very little use as anything other than something I wear around the house. It does look really good with a white dress shirt and tie, though, I do have to say.
