I was at The Vancouver Police Pipe Bands Burns Supper on Saturday there was a real gamut of looks from the band members to Argyll and prince Charlie and a fellow in a ghillie shirt. But one fellow was in a blue tweed kilt suit with anice brown over check in it he had a matching tan leather and tweed sporran with tan shoes. I thought it was an incredible good looking outfit. I'm not a big contemporary fan but that may have been the best outfit there

Too bad you weren't able to get a picture... I always forget my camera, and never think of my phone...

Some of them look smashing to me, except for the ones that have those large hanging pockets in front. I like the understated elegance of the earthy subdued tones and patterns.

I am sure I will be corrected in quick order if I am wrong....however didn't Alan Cummings receive his OBE in a "kilt suit"? I believe it was him and for my 2 pence it looked rather sharp.

Yup, it was mentioned earlier in the tread that Howie at 21stC did his outfit for Alan's OBE.
And he did indeed look quite sharp.

My error, I see MacLowLife's mention of it in the earlier posting. I did read the post, just missed it. Thanks

Me too. Loose the pockets and we'll talk.

Contemporary, traditional or otherwise...
I prefer looks that are well fitted and properly tailored. The front "pockets", if that is in fact what they are, present a more sloppy line and distract away from the overall fit and appearance.
However, the gentleman on the right of the picture is very nicely put together.
