At one of the Highland Games I attended, I looked over at the beer tent, (A fenced off area of dozens of tables), and while there were TONS of guys in kilts, most of them were overly conscious of being kilted and not wholly comfortable.
The guy that drew my eyes, and the eyes of a LOT of women passing by, was in the centre of the area and he was as natural as can be. He was wearing a kilt, sporran, belt, sandals, and a cheesecloth kilt shirt and he stood out in a crowd of more traditionally dressed kilted guys.
I think a guy can appear more natural when wearing a kilt instead of pants because he simply IS more natural when his wedding tackle isn't wrapped up in layers. Once he gets used to being naturally garbed, his body starts to move naturally. Even his mind changes and is less stressed.

Gotcha! Your right. I settled into mine almost instantly and find it as normal as wearing pants, except maybe more so now. I think your talking about the pure attention getters. I seen some photos on here and about the web of guys you know will never where them outside a wedding or baptism. That in my words, "does suck".

    Cheers.
