Along the same vein-
How about a Mess Jacket, sort of like a Prince Charlie, but without tails? Buttons with a matte finish would also be nice. Sometimes I think the tails are a bit much.

If you wear a military Mess Jacket, you will want to substitute a short waistcoat for the cumberbund. Speaking from experience, the cumberbund does not work with the sporran straps/chain. However, I was refering to a civilian type "mess jacket" - at least one of the online kilt retailers sells one. If I find it in the next day or two, I will add to this thread.

I myself would forego the tartan on the sleeves, and could also have one made custom at a better price, but this is the general idea.
