Cajunscot took the words out of my mouth: “Why not order a Texas Bluebonnet Tartan kilt? That's probably the simplest way to honour Scotland and the Republic!”
And Zardoz complemented that perfectly with his Lone Star kilt pin.

I agree. Western style belts are too narrow.
But also check out local tack shops. Many do custom leather/strap work. In fact, one of my favorite sporran straps came from a tack and farm supply shop Chattanooga. Bought, off the rack, for less than $20.

There's a simple answer to that one- I don't have $250 just laying around not doing anything, and I came at this with the assumption that the OP doesn't, either.

Thanks for the help.
No I don't. I just pick things up on my travels.

Hey Tobus, your wife does beautiful work! Does she have a website? or an e-mail address?

For a real Texas style kilt pin you could always make a nice one out of a rattlesnake rattle . They have the rattles pretty cheap on e-bay, just glue a pin on the back.
Ropers don't look that much different than many of the lace up boots people wear with their kilt
A cowboy hat would probably look nice but I would draw the line at a sombrero

Most of the work she does is for a saddle shop that belongs to a friend of ours. He's old-school, and doesn't have a website for his business.
One of these days I will get around to building a website for my wife's work that she can use as a base point for perhaps starting her own leatherworking business. Right now, though, she pretty much just gets work by word-of-mouth referrals.
