I was think nail gun but your idea is much more appropriate.

I preordered Barb T's book and after I try an X kilt or two and maybe a box pleat I will give a trad a go.

Why not, faint heart never wore self made kilt! I hope to attend a kilt kamp along the way as well.

I started a X-kilt but for $68.00 I would rather buy one from Frugal Corner. It's alot easier.John

I have made 3 knock arounds, 2 kid kilts, a 4 yard box pleat (using x-kilt instructions, pictures from x-marks/matts site) and artistic license, an x-kilt (cheerleader skirt style, black and red) and I am working on an 8 yard pv tartan kilt. I have been meaning to post pictures, maybee someday I will get around to it.

    Three (so far).

One straight up knife pleated modern in poly-cotton, very early on. Most ochen' icky-poo.

One resewn SWK economy Irish National, done up with FOUR box pleats (and them's big ol' boxes, too, a fellow could hurt himself moving them), hand sewn and right poorly too.

One resewn SWK economy leatherneck, done up with six box pleats, machine sewn. Surprisingly wearable. As long as I don't compare it to a real kilt, made by a real kilt maker, I like it.

    And more to come!

I am currently chalking out the pleats on my first X-Kilt. It's not too bad if you just take a little time here, a little time there...
