Last time I applied for a job, I showed up kilted. Still on the same job. My years of experience, and customer oriented approach to the business hired me, not the kilt. When I am to be working the floor, safety requires leg protection, and I am in 501s. Days in the field at customer locations or doing the office thing I am kilted. I work for a small mom & son hardware/industrial supply store. In the field, the kilt breaks down many barriers. Mostly because people perceive that it takes brass ***** to wear one in ten degree weather, here in New England. Also it is a unique signature identifier with the clients.i am able to be called for repeat business.

    I voted no.
I work in a military and law enforcement controlled world. By in large they are unbending in their attitudes .

Once I obtained the job, I wouldn't rule out wearing a kilt on the first day on the job.

I answered no because I'm in the banking industry. But, that doesn't mean that the kilt doesn't have a role in a job interview situation. If you are a piper, for instance. Also, if you are interviewing for a sales position or you are an actor going to an audition, wearing a kilt will get the interviewers' attention and won't let them forget you.

I voted no, but after reading this thread, I think I would have voted yes. Maybe better to be honest up front. Though I must admit, I suspect it would not alway endear a selection commitee.
