Oh , make no mistake I can be wrong ! Even on this perhaps.
It seems that I do not draw the same conclusions from pictures that many appear to. Take this picture, for example, we all see what we see of that there is no doubt, but perhaps the sporran had slipped, perhaps the King had decided to try wearing the sporran lower on that day, perhaps he connected to the wrong hole on his sporran belt(have you never done that?), perhaps-----?Maybe------? Could be-----? Who knows?I don't for sure. But to make blanket assumptions that what you see in a picture is how it always is, is unwise.

LOL! But, in his thread alone there are three separate photos indicating the same number of different low-hanging sporran-wearing occasions. That's enough cloth for me to make a blanket.

Well OK that is fine for you, but not for me. Besides, I might want a blanket of a different colour!

That's what several of us were pointing out in the thread not long ago which devolved into whether or not to button the bottom button on one's waistcoat. Those saying not to kept citing Edward as the reason. Yet he does in all the photos I've seen of him wearing highland attire.
My take is simply that the "rules" for proper dress do not always carry over from Saxon to Highland attire.
