Tartan: US Navy
Weight: 16oz or heavier
Yardage: 8yds or more
Customization: No 3rd strap, pleated to the stripe (either white or double red)
Why: I am in the US Navy, why not? 16oz or heavier because I plan to retire in the mountians of BC Canada and need the warmth. Pleating to the stripe because it's a military tartan.

Tartan:MacGregor of Glengyle/Deeside or Islay Woollen Mills' Rob Roy tartan
Weight:19oz
Yardage:8yd
Customization:Single width tartan pleated to sett, fully lined with two straps/buckles and a fly plaid for formal occasions.
Why:I already own a traditional kilt in MacGregor Hunting (actually the correct name is MacGregor of Cardney) in 16oz single width material with two straps/buckles. The heavier material hangs better and wears like iron. I also have a great kilt I wear to faires/games and hiking during the winter months.

Hmmm
I'd say one of the following:
Tartan: Robertson Hunting Modern
Weight:16oz
Yardage:8
Customization: Pleated to red stripe, two buckles on the left, one on the right.
Why:Holds the front apron in place better without pulling.
Tartan: Clergy Green Ancient (to match the off colored scarf I have - beautiful!)
Weight:16oz
Yardage:8
Customization: Pleated to green stripe, two buckles on the left, one on the right.
Why:Holds the front apron in place better without pulling.

Bit late, but I think I would order two, both MacLaine of Lochbuie hunting, modern, and the McFadden hunting, also modern. Pleated to stripe for the MoL To Sett for the McF. 16oz wool, three straps, and belt loops.

here they are in order.

Tartan: Maclachlan Ancient

Customization: Pleated to the sett, aside from that, nothing special.
Why: Family tartan, and I love the way it looks in the ancient colors.
