I saw my first kilt today....

...outside of the media and a Celtic fest/weekend, and of all places, where I work. I work in the banquet department of the local Hilton, and we have the FL Jr. College student assoc. (I think that's their name) in house...all 470 of them. One of the guys this morning was wearing a Utilikilt. I invited him to the forum, so hopefully we'll see him around here soon.

    Brian,

When you said 470 students I thought maybe you saw 470 students kilted, but one is better than none. Glad you told them about us and certainly hope that he will post.

Yup. The plan right now is Chapel Hill. We're going up to check it out in March.

Chapel Hill is a nice town. Taxes are a bit high but the schools are good.

I lived in Orange County, NC for a little over 5 years. I love it down there. Hope you will, too.

Thought outside of Chapel Hill & Carrboro, the good ol' boys might have a hard time accepting the kilt.

Early last year I was kilted in Edinburgh. You would think the kilt would be common place there, but it isn't as a rule.

However, this was a day of a Scotland International Football game and the railway station and city centre were awash with kilted guys on their way to the match. I felt right at home!!

Somehow, Al.,I don't see you in one of those "Hullo Jimmy" bonnets with built-in, carrot-coloured wigs - but I'd quite like to!!!

Hi Ham, it's been a while.
Surprisingly I don't recall seeing any wigs, just the kilts. OK, so they all wore the Scotland football shirt but it was still a sight to behold.
