Stillwater questions
I still want to find an affordable kilt to wear in the summer, been offered an attractivly priced SWK. Two questions.
Why all the love for the SWK, it is essentially the same off shore product that the same people here swear against?
And, as its still a 24 inch length, how easy are they to shorten? Can any alterations shop do it?

Dave,
How tall are you? If you are 6' the SWK will fit you fine.

Yes they are made offshore, but that doesn't mean they are inferior in any way. SW kilts are surprisingly well made for the price.
As for the 24" length...I'm 5'9 and the length is perfect for me.

I'm 5'7" and 24 inch length is fine if I wear it at military height, above the navel at the bottom of the ribs.

I'm also 5'7'', and I was considering an SWK. Now I'm not so sure due to the length. Does anyone know what the cost is to have a kilt altered? Has anyone had one done and how did it turn out?

They're light enough you can have them hemmed up if you don't want to do it yourself. Call around to places in your area, like dry cleaners to find a seamstress and ask how much to hem up a pleated skirt. It should be reasonable.

I also agree that the SWK's are well made and a good value for the price. But Al and Mr. B., it can't fit us all well in length, and I am 6' 3"! Based on the kneeling measurement, I would expect it to fit me in length pretty well, be a little long on MB and well below the knee on Al, no?
The kilt concealed a blaster strapped to his thigh. Lazarus Long

It depends on your body. I'm 6'2" with a 33' inseam, and mine comes to just above the knee,
