Great day yesterday!!
1. Had my 1:1 with our new director (my boss's boss) yesterday. Explained to him that I was an equal opportunity harasser which he didn't mind as long as I can take too, which I can. Then at the end he asked if I had any questions. The look on my face said yes and he said go ahead, ask. I just happened to mention that Tartan Day was coming up in April and everyone was encouraged to wear their Kilts. "Knock yourself out, just don't expect me to wear one" YIPPIE
2. On the way to Village Inn with my wife for dinner I told her about the meeting and what he said. We then discussed kilts, kilt accessories and what some of you have been doing. Kilt making came up and she thought it might be fun to make one And what else I needed for more formal or more casual wearing This from a woman who, while not minding me wearing the kilt at the games, has not been too keen on being seen with me wearing it in general public. WHAT A TURN AROUND!!
Now I'm starting to think about taking the kilt with us when we head down to Albq, Flagstaff, Grand Canyon and Moab.

That is indeed a great day. I only wish my boss was as understanding. He has seen me in kilted and when I mentioned Tartan Day and wearing the kilt to the office.....he just smiled and asked me which office I intended to be working in Not the kindest of remarks so I take Tartan Day off each year

Congratulations! You must have been on cloud nine after that day! Have fun wearing it on Tartan day!

That's fanatastic!
I've been wearing mine once or twice a week to work, sort of under the radar. My immediate supervisor doesn't mind and she encouraged me to just wear it and HR-bedamned!
Our office manager was up in the library yesterday while I was kilted and I was a bit nervous, but he allayed all my fears with a big smile and his comment, "Wow! Nice kilt!"
I think that means I've got the go ahead, as he's the head of HR.

Cool.
A friend from work and I are going to wear our Kilts to work on Tartan Day as well. He has an entire outfit which he bought at the Longs Peak Scottish/Irish Festival years ago. (I told him about this site, but have yet to hear him say anything about it.)
I figure to break the ice on that day and try and slip more Kilts days in after that, depending on the reactions. Of course, I could start with St. Patrick’s Day, but then I would need to get an Irish National or something like that between now and then. Hmmmm. :-|
And, bye the way... This is a great time of the year to make a trip like that. No crowds. But if you go down there you should visit Page and you may even see the living legend of northern Arizona, Ron MacDonald.

Just hurry and get yourself on the X-Marks Tartan 2nd Run, then order Barb T's book, The Art of Kiltmaking, from the Celtic Dragon Press website. Because you already have a kilt for inspection, visualizing some of the steps Barb outlines makes it a whole lot easier. Just remember, it's all hand sewing and will take a while.

Nothing beats hiking in a kilt. Just watch out for updrafts ,although welcome if the kilt becomes too warm because of the exertion.

Funny thing, that was discussed last night too. We will be getting Barb's book. Just need to talk the DW into letting me order the X-Marks Tartan. It IS a very nice looking one.
