Ann and I have had this virus for a couple of weeks and while its just left me with a hacking cough and feeling below par, Ann being diabetic has been in hospital for this past week. Yesterday was the first time I'd been kilted for a week or so, due to being unwell, but I managed to do my duty day at the aviation museum in Black Watch kilt yesterday then visited Ann afterwards. The kilt was very well received by the nursing staff and received a lot of compliments. This morning I began rooting out old clothes which I can wear for training for the Great North Run which I really need to get started on as soon as I feel a bit better. Tried on an old pair of hiking boots with long socks rolled down to top of boots and three or four old pairs of shorts. None of the shorts were presentable for visiting the hospital and it was a bit cold for shorts anyway so I pulled on the black mercy kilt to go and visit Ann. This also received a lot of compliments from the nurses, especially with the rolled down socks and boots as I usually wear my kilts with long hose and black shoes. I got the impression Ann was getting a bit of extra attention from the nurses because she had a kilted visitor in her room, and today seems to have marked the first tenuous signs of an improvement in her condition.
