A new kind of jonesing
So I've been home for a few weeks now, still no kilt to my name. Except for the one sitting upstairs, waiting for alteration. Which can't be done until I drop some more weight. I've already lost 50 lbs since September, but the remaining gut (yes, there is still some gut remaining, unfortunately) is still keeping me from taking that kilt in.
So, I'm still basically in the same situation that I was when I joined. But now it's different. I've touched that kilt. It's sitting there in a closet, right now, tempting me.
Gah!

I have one in my possesion and one on the way (i hope). I've lost 20 lbs and now have to get it altered. Note to Xmarks mates: don't get fitted and loose a bunch of weight! Good thing i know an expert seamstress that does free work for me. Whew!

Unless your kiltmaker offers lifetime tailoring, that is.

Congratulations on dropping that 50 lb. It sounds like you're well on your way to getting to your desired weight. Once you are there, wearing your kilt will be even that more enjoyable.

Thanks. It will be quite nice. I suppose the kilt is just more motivation.

Unknown Kilt...
Hi, gang! I'm in sorta that boat. I have a slightly-too-small kilt which I got in an eBay.co.uk deal. Consisted of a tan tweed Argyle jacket and matching waistcoat, and this really nice antique kilt in a blue/black/white overstripe tartan. The whole outfit is from the 1930s, according to the seller. Well, I've had the jacket and waistcoat rebuilt with new lining, so they're done. The tweed is stouter than any Harris Tweed I've ever seen, so I figure it's GOT to be old. I'm getting the kilt resized with new straps in June by Matt Newsome when I go to the Taste of Scotland in Franklin NC on June 16-17. And, Matt's going to research the tartan and finally solve the mystery of WHOSE clan tartan it is! If anybody can do it, certainly he can! I've already spoken with him on the phone about this, and I'm really looking forward to meeting him next month!
So...here I am, jonesing about that nice old kilt, complete with a couple of tiny moth holes which add character of 70+ years. While it has nothing to do with my clan (MacNicol), it sure is a nice colour and will be great fun to wear.
Sandy
Nothing is worn under the kilt...everything works just fine!!

It seems you CAN have your kilt and jones for it too.

I'm down about 40 pounds from last October and even though I didn't get my tank until March it's already starting to drop to my waist at times. I want a nice jacket made for it but have been putting that off. I need to drop at least another 20-30 pounds before I'll feel more comfortable.
Good Luck with the rest and congratulations on how far you've made it.
