I would personally say that the sleeves should be tailored so that you don't see the shirt cuffs when your arms are hanging at your side, although they shouldn't be too long either. If you make the sleeves too short, while they will look okay at your side, if you raise your arm and bend it, the sleeve will look like it stops halfway up your forearm.
Of course, then the question becomes how do you see the fancy cufflinks if the coat sleeve covers them.:confused:
