    Where are the pipers...?

Okay...I finally got one...I finally had someone ask me where I was playing the bagpipes...pardon my glee but this just hasn't happened till now.

Vitaman Shoppe...yesterday afternoon...me wearing the USA Casual Hunting Stewart.

Little old lady....but with jet-black dyed hair and big, thick glasses:

"So where are the pipers playing today?"

Me: "I'm sorry, I have no idea."

LOL: "Don't you play the bagpipes?"

Me: "No...do you have any idea how expensive bagpipes are? I can't afford bagpipes."

LOL: "Cause didn't I see you playing the bagpipes at that memorial service out at..."

Me: "No, you couldn't have...I don't play the bagpipes...I'd love to but they're very hard to learn and very expensive."

LOL: "Then why are you wearing the kilt?"

Me: "See that guy over there...he's wearing shorts, right? Okay...today I'm wearing a kilt."

LOL: "Oh...well that's interesting." Walks away leaving me, my wife and the check-out girl rolling our eyes and laughing to ourselves.

I'll tell you, with these temperatures around here I think that most people see me in the kilt and wish they had one...they assume that it's just a concession to the heat...little do they know....

I got the pipes question a couple of times the friday night before the Flagstaff Celtic fest. I was wearing my SWK standard Nightstalker. The one lady in the Irish pub and eatery (fish and chips were awful btw) just didn't seem to understand why else I would possibly be wearing the kilt.

I'm gonna start carrying a kazzoo in my sporran in case anybody ever asks me about the pipes. I'm pretty sure I can belt out Scotland The Brave on a kazzoo....

You just gave me a good idea, I play the Blues Harp and it will definately fit in a sporran...........now as to the tune, I need to think about that one.
