Fun Saturday
The Good-wife and I went to Lichtenfels yesterday. They have a basket weaving school there and each year have a festival to display and sell their wares. Of course, being in Germany, they have lots of good food and good drink. Naturally I went kilted encourged by my wife as if that was necessary. There is an area called the Street of Nations where they have lots of ethnic food/drink vendors. Of course, we had to stop for a Guiness.

There were several guys standing around in kilts and one bagpiper. I was eyeing them and they were eyeing me. They finally came our way and one stopped to talk. The first question was "Are you Scottish?" After I said no, he started telling us about the Scottish club they have there in Lichtenfels. The guy eventually asked if we had come last year. We had and he was one of two guys in kilts carrying a wooden keg selling shots of Hudson Bay elixer. He remembered us because we had bought three each. He told us they would be walking around later selling it again and he would give us each a drink for free. My wife and I decided it was for being kilted rather than buying three last year. I was so busy talking to them I didn't get a pic with them. My wife got one of him as he gave us our drinks.
Some of these guy's kilts were very good quality and you could tell the difference between them and my less expensive kilt. My wife said we'll have to spend more on my kilts but we'd have to take it slow as we want to buy a house when we return to the states.
Didn't notice any comments or even many looks from the local Germans. One boy, looked about 12, passed by several times staring each time trying to figure it out. Overall it was a good day.
YMOS,
Tony
