    Kilt takes Omaha by storm!

Well, not exactly. I wear Utilikilts exclusively when I'm not working at the zoo, where I'm required to wear bifurcated garments. So, when I went to the Henry Doorly Zoo last week to observe some husbandry practices for our zoo, I went kilted. Needless to say, I don't think the keepers at HDZ or the denizens of Omaha quite knew what to make a of a guy in a kilt. I never got one derisive comment, which I usually can get on any one day here in Chicago - however I just had this strange vibe the whole time. I think those of you who go kilted on a regular basis can probably attest to feeling the same thing in certain circumstances. I did get ONE comment the whole time I was there regarding the kilt, and it was a favorable comment to boot. However, one has to consider the source. A guy (visitor) commented, "Hey, nice kilt," to which I said, "Thanks!" The guy giving the comment could've been TatooBradley's long lost brother. He had multiple facial piercings and tattoos pretty much everywhere - in other words someone who does their own thing and probably has a truly liberal attitude that accepts other people's desires to dress and look however they want. I don't know if there's any point to all of this except the simple observation that one can get so used to wearing the kilt that it can feel odd to be somewhere where you may be the only person that has ever been seen in a kilt. I might be exaggerating as well. For all I know there could be X-marks members who go kilted around Omaha all the time. Oh yeah, I almost forgot, there was a TSA guy at the airport in Omaha who recognized my kilt as a UK and so we talked for a couple minutes about them. He wanted the Survival kilt so he could see if it was truly capable of holding an entire 12 pack unlike my Workman's which is only capable of holding a paltry 6 pack.

Well overall it sounded like a positive experience no bad comments is always good right?
