New on here - from Alaska
I'm not new to kilts, having grown up as a piper's son. However, I am very new to posting on this forum. So far, I have only lurked and read.
I own one really nice kilt - a wool one from John Higgins. I wear it when I go Country Dancing with my wife.
I have made a couple of simple house kilts. Just plaid material from the fabric store and modelled after Sport Kilts a friend loaned me.
I do play bagpipes, though not all that well. I am still a real novice and have only competed at one games so far. Still, that's a big part of my life right now.
Other interests include banjo, several medieval or obscure instruments, glass beads, knives, and wood carving. I do sew, as well as several other hobbies.
I have two kids and both are very used to seeing Daddy in a kilt. My son owns one, as well. He only wears it for Scottish stuff, as it is a nice wool job and at 7 years old he can easily mess it up if he isn't careful with it.
I guess that's me in a nutshell.
Hi, all!
