Public opinion-I've brought out my 'soap-box'.

( I'm not shouting, I've used bold print here-regular print to show orig post.)

After two hours of composing, re-writing, and re-re-writing,
    I've brought out my .

Ok folks, most of us here are members of other kilt/skirted garment Forums.
( A kilt is a skirted garment made for, and worn by, men.)

I'm not wanting to 'flame' anyone, or get 'flamed' by anyone,:butt:

I've thought hard, for several days, about posting something like this on this
Forum, but it does make sense to do so, as this applies to kilts as well.

The following link is to a question on Yahoo Answers. Please read
    and subsitute kilt for skirt.

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=A0WTcJFh3qVHmIIA8wMjzKIX;_ylv=3?qid=200 80203061322AA7pzOT

Next is a post I made on the same forum.

[ Well, I did not come back here to get the link since I saved the
main page at Yahoo Answers. When I tried to find it, I first ended
up with 5300+ possibilities. I next searched for Men in Skirts.
Ended up with 71 possibilites. Many of these items were posted
10 months to 5 years ago. I did see one posted by our old friend
Noodles. Anyway, with all of these 'questions' out there, who will
    see these?
What 'Fashion-ista' will take any interest?
Are we allowed to compile these 'questions' and 'answers' into a
letter/form/document to be taken/given to Fashion Designers?
    Old cousin Bubba?
    Agent 007? ( Oh-That's Sean Connery-he wears kilts anyway. )

It seems that there is a higher percentage of people For men in skirts/kilts than
Against. The one's that were against, you could tell, were either trouble makers,
or people showing their ignorance. (Their spelling is terrible!)
[ Maybe mine is bad too! ]

OK-I've just put a fresh plate of meat on the table.
Who will add any vegatables, fruit, wine, or desert to this feast?

    Anyone????????????

    Here is the first reply by Ian in the U.K.;

[ I think you are very right! Most people are in favour of good and healthy
things and self expression and so on. Why shouldn't they be in favour
    of freedom?

The people who are against such things usually have more volatile energy
and are keen to promote themselves as much as their opinions. Which means
they make a bigger stink in the short term but in the longer term the
    cooler heads get their way.

If we expect everyone to be sane and non judgemental we're going to be
disappointed all our lives, and probably never try anything new for fear
some gatemouth will trash us. I've found people very accepting of most
things! And sometimes the people who are against skirts/kilts have their
own reasons, like a girl I knew who hated attention being drawn to her
    or people around her.

I think you are on the money! ]

    Now to X-MARKS---------

What is it going to take to get the idea across to the 'fashion world'
that men can/should reclaim their right to wear a kilt in everyday life?

What can we do to 'break-the-mind-set' that kilts are for 'special'
occasions/that men who wear kilts are 'touched-in-the-head'/that
you must be of Scottish or Irish decent to wear a kilt/that men who
wear kilts are 'gay'(new def. not the 1890's def.) / that it's not
a 'macho thing' to wear a kilt?

What is it going to take to get kilt manufacturers to produce a
decent quality kilt that the 'every-day-Joe' can afford? Other than
Utilikilts with their own stores, how many retail stores ( J.C.Penny's,
Dillards, Macy's, The Gap, Old Navy to name a few) would be willing
    to sell an 'off-the-rack' kilt?

SWK's are a good quality casual kilt and in the kilt world, a very
good price range. (I'm not plugging them, just stating a fact
as I've priced quite a few kilts. SWK's work with-in my budget.)

We need more people like SWK, and get media promotion like UK's.

OK, I will put away my 'soap-box' but I'm leaving the Gauntlet!

    Who will pick it up????????

There is certainly a gap in the market in Scotland for good quality off the rack kilts.

Apart from places like Geoffrey (Taylor) and Andersons you will not find many places where you can find them and it is a market left to the lower end "establishments" on the Royal Mile.

But it's not an easy market to anticipate in terms of tartans and sizes and nobody would want to carry stock that wasn't moving reasonably quickly.
