Surname McMichael: Irish or Scottish...
If Scottish, which Clan?
In doing some genealogy I've found my great-grandfather on my grandfather's mother's side is a McMichael, born in Thornliebank, Renfrew, Scotland. His father was born in Tamlaght Finlagan, Londonderry, Ireland and his father was born in Thornliebank.
Is McMichael a Irish or Scottish surname and if Scottish what clan would they most likely belong to?
This may start my quest for my next tartan....
