I came to the realization yesterday that it had been entirely too long since I had been on a date with my wife. I’m sure many of you can sympathize with having a hectic life. Between both of us having workaholic tendencies, my school, church, PTA, Cub Scouts, etc., we had gone way too long without relaxed bonding time. After all, we all know that the courting doesn’t stop after the nuptials.

So, I sent an email to the missus inquiring about her post-work plans. I told her the laundry could wait and that I would meet her at a local tapas bar. I rushed home and cleaned up, threw on a kilt and jacket and headed out like an overzealous school kid for a real date.

We had the most relaxing dinner. Two hours of genuine conversation and hand holding over tapas and a bottle of wine. After dinner we took a stroll along our riverfront and had a bit of coffee in the city’s art district. The weather was damp and the fog along the river created a wonderfully soft ambiance with the city lights. We talked and giggled and dreamed and snuggled. It was just like the beginning of our relationship. I woke this morning feeling like we’d been on vacation.

Anyway, it’s my hope that by sharing this, you may be prompted take a moment and reconnect with your loved one. Truly, the other stuff can wait.
