Call for help
I know this may not be the right place to put this post but I have the chance to buy another new cilt/kilt but I must decide by first thing in the morning .... it is a Macleod Ancient tartan .. would be great for my treks in the hills .. but I cannot find a decent pic of the tartan before I say yay or nay. Has anyone on x marks got a pic or access to one of the tartan. I did look up one tartan finder and it wasn't on it ....
hope someone here can help
thanks

Yes McMurdo's advice is good.If you want to see it worn in action,so to speak, click on Jock Scot(by the avatar), go to view public profile, and then click statistics, then click on threads started by JS, look for two titles,"OK here goes" and "wedding in France" there you will see rather poor pictures of me clad in MacLeod ancient.Don't forget that you can get Macleod of Harris(mainly green and blue) or MacLeod of Lewis(mainly yellow) both can be in ancient colours. To complicate things even more there are at least another dozen more Macleod tartans, but the two, first mentioned are the usual ones.

The guy describe it to me and it was bluish base, tinge green with yellow n red lines and black.... i have found a swatch on the net that corresponds to that but it not a good one. It certainly isn't yellow based.

Perhaps the one the STA labels as MacLeod of Skye? ITI # 263.
Or MacLeod of Assynt? ITI # 1582.

Are there narrow black lines directly adjacent and down/across both sides of the yellow and red stripes? If so it will almost certainly be MacLeod of Harris, sometimes known (incorrectly) as hunting MacLeod.

Here you go Derek,MacLeod of Harris ancient. The picture does not show the blue too well, always remember the YELLOW lines always cross on the BLUE squares.
Just taken--MacLeod of Harris.

Well done, Derek! The ancient color scheme is gorgeous with MacLeod of Harris, as witness Jock Scot's pictures.
