Judgement Day
Guday, I'm an aussie, so please be gentle . Today I finished a kilt which I had been working on for a while. I must first point out that nothing you see regarding the kilt or the sporran was ever made for a male to wear. In Australia we do not have the florishing kilt trade which you have in other countrys, not even the likes of utilikilts exist here yet. So, about the one I made.
It was modified from another sort of kilt which i got from an Op-Shop for $6. The fabric is pure wool woven in the standard Royal Stewart Pattern. I shortened it to a length to wear on my hips, then added some belt loops from an old pair of jeans. The 2 leather buckles were repositioned to the side of the apron, and I used velcro to secure the inner apron. The sporran (??) is actually an old shoulder bag my wife never used. I took the makers badge off and fitted a replica kilt brooch to the flap. The stitching on the bag was white so I dyed it black. I cut the strap with the snap clips attached then sewed them in a loop to fit the belt. The belt is the only new item and it cost me $8AU. All up I think I spent $20AU.
I would welcome any feedback as to my project being a failure, or maybe passable as a kilt to wear for casual and leisure purposes.
Blast I just found out I cannot post pics here, ok then. Maybe somebody could tell me where I can post the pics so you can look at what I have.
Lets just try this
