How do you find the pennies?
I know not everyone is a millionaire, and in these bad economic times, how do you save to buy that special kilt you have been longing for without breaking the budget?
Im a self employed remodeling contractor, and we get a lot of scrap aluminum from the jobs we do that i save.
That usally brings in a couple of hundred extra dollars per month i can spend without feeling guilty that its coming out of the house hold savings.
So what do you guys do to pay for or fit a kilt into your budget?
And do not say credit card.

For me... I'm lucky; being single, living on my own, with next to no bills to speak of (less than 1k/month total), as a Police Officer making somewhat-decent money... when I want to spend some extra money on my hobbies, I'll just do so. If I need some extra cash, I'll take an off-duty detail or 2 and just use that money instead!

$475 in about....8 months. That's all pocket change. Every time I broke a dollar, i threw the change in a jar. Your change REALLY adds up! BTW, I'm also single and live 12 miles from my job...so that helps too

We do have a five gallon jug full of pennys.
Have no idea what its worth.

I also drop all my pocket change in a "piggy bank". It's shaped like a moose though. In Canada we have $1.00 and $2.00 coins. It adds up pretty quickly.
My wife also has a place she keeps her change so there is no swapping. She can use hers for what ever she wants and I do the same.
I've managed to pay for a Tank in just a few months.

Even before I hit the link I knew it had to be "A Little Tin Box". My favorite song from that musical.
I finance my kilting activities by selling soprrans. Some people like them.

Loose change and the occasional odd job is how I support my uh, habit. Rex_Tremende and Tetlys posts are spot on as to my own sitution and how I approach the whole financial issue.
Yes, I do have a cat.

I sell on ebay but sales lately on ebay are bad because the whole economy is bad. I'm thinking of giving blood plasma, can get $20 each time I do it. It's a bit of a painful way to make a buck though.
