    A Burns Night in Victoria

Here in Victoria, BC we have the honor to have a wonderful Pipe Band made up of Vollenteers of Serving Police Officers, Retired Officers and civilians.
As their annual fund raiser The Greater Victoria Police Pipe Band puts on a Burns Dinner.
As we have for the past four years Bobbie and I support the Band as much as we can.

Here is a Photo of us as we leave for the dinner.

Bobbie is in her German Heritage Hostess Skirt that I made for her from what I believe is the first length of this wonderful Tartan designed by our own Rocky of USA Kilts that was sold retail.
I am in my Hudson's Bay Co. Tartan Kilt that I finished only the day before.

As we enter the Mary Winspear Center we are greeted with this collection available for sampling.

We found that were were a little early so I took an opportunity to go up on the stage and take a shot of the room set for the guests.

Yes folks this is a huge event. The expected attendance is over 500.

    More to follow.

In a few moments we were joined by our hosts David and Anna McIntosh.
Known here as MacMan & Mrs. MacMan.

Now, some of you who have attended a Burns Dinner have had the opportunity to have a Piper to add to the festivities.

We have the honor of an entire Band.

    to be continued.

The Piping in of the Haggis.

Then it's time to hit the buffet.

The menu included Breads, assorted Veggie & dip, salads, Roasted Potatoes, Braised Chicken, Prime Rib, and of course all the Haggis you wanted.

Here is a sample of one of the dessert table.

    The evening included dancing.

Some by our local Highland Dance school.

    And some audience participation dancing.

Here is MacMan and his Mom who took the floor to show us all how its done.

I apologize to all for the poor quality of the photos. I just got a new SLR camera and I'm still getting used to the exposure settings.

It was then time for another chance for the Pipe Band to show their stuff.

Our own MacMan is a member of the Band.

As the evening began to wind down, the silent auction was would up, the 50/50 was made and then it was time for a few last photos.

Another of my lovely wife Bobbie. You all know her as "The Kilted Knome"

And the group from our table minus Anna McIntosh who took the photo and David's Mom who was supervising.

    What an evening!

I hope the fellow who did the "Address of the Haggis" was first rate

It is a heck of a build up to have an entire pipe band deliver it!

    Great photos Steve

    Cheers
