So have you ever been afraid to wear the kilt.
I mentioned to mom and sister that I had every intention of dawning the kilt and going to see my old high schol football team play ball. After a momentary pause mom says that she wishes that I not do that because se says that people get jumped for no reason. Basically she thinks that because I wear a kilt out in public that a group of people will just run up and beat the crap out of me. This is not the first time this comment has been made by her. I know she worries as a mother. But is this fear of her's waranted.
Have any of the Rabble ever been in situations where they felt threatened.
Is this a problem around the world.

Afraid, no. I leave it to lesser men to be afraid of me. For I wear The Kilt.
I stand proud. I face the world head on. I meet jibes and remarks with a sense of humor and at times a firm look. For I know that when all is said and done, in the end, I will have the lady on my arm and all will envy me.
Seriously, I have never been afraid. I have at times been stupid and gone places where it was not wise to be. I have at time, when I was young and immortal, done things that proved to be unhealthy, but I lived.
And when compared to those times when there were people with guns intent on killing me I find almost any situation can be handled with a calm voice, a sense of humor, and by remembering that their attitude usually comes from fear and uncertainty. Make the fear and uncertainty go away and so goes the attitude.

After the company Christmas party in December I found my self walking through the streets of Oslo (Capital of Norway) at 3 AM sunday morning, lots of drunken party people everywhere. I felt pretty scared and thought that I'll be lucky of I live through this. I got a lot of stares and a lot of positive reactions.
I don't think you should worry to much.
Power to the kilt!!

Doubtful. You're the real man anyway. Why should you even care?

No, never. Apprehensive a time or two in the beginning, but it soon passes. Unfounded fear, IMO.
In her defense, fear is the currency of the day. It is everywhere at the moment. Do not succumb to it.
Steve has it right !

This weekend is "Bike Fest" in Leesburg Florida, they expect about 250,000
motorcycles there, I'm going KILTED. Don't expected any problems. Never do.
Maybe a few ignorant comments for the alcohol impaired, but not much more.
I don't believe the idea is to arrive in heaven in a well preserved body! But to slide in side ways,Kilt A' Fly'n! Scream'en "Mon Wha A Ride" Kilted Santas

I went, prekilt, to a large motorcycle gathering on my bicycle, in my lycra. I got some strange looks, but I was blessed along with all the various motorized vehicles there. I even got to meet one of my favorite local radio personalities.
I was once asked by my (then) wife not to wear a kilt to walk the dog when we were vacationing in Redding, California. SHE was afraid I would be jumped by locals; on reflection, I'm not sure they could have been bothered, but I complied at the time.

I would not wear my kilt (or shorts) when riding my motorcycle because I fear the consequences of bare skin making contact with the road surface. Apart from that I have never been afraid to wear a kilt.
I am considering whether it is wise to wear a kilt to the Army v Navy Rugby Game this coming weekend. (2May09) I was thinking about wearing my DPM (camouflage) drinking kilt with an Army Rugby Union shirt, but is this in danger of being conduct unbecoming for a middle aged army officer? Especially as my CO will be there with her father who is by all accounts a rather splendid retired WW2 officer. Maybe I'll get away with being eccentric.
I could wear my hodden grey but its been attacked by moths and there is a little hole not quite hidden by my sporran (Don't get me going on moths B... every one of them.)
The 'Eathen in his idleness bows down to wood and stone,
'E don't obey no orders unless they is his own,
He keeps his side arms awful,
And he leaves them all about,
Until up comes the Regiment and kicks the 'Eathen out.
