London Scottish and the Gordon Tartan

I was watching "Ladies from Hell" earlier today and they had a video of the London Scottish pipe band playing for the Queen. While their kilts are solid brown, their pipe bags are made of the Gordon tartan. Does anybody know why this is? Is there a connection I'm not aware of?

Hm. Sounds like tartan envy to me. While the hodden gray is not a bad looking kilt, it's no Gordon!

The London Scottish were twinned with the Gordons as an affiliated regiment.
