Never Had This Happen Before!
So I'm at a week-long conference of about 500 therapists - mostly in the addictions field - and mostly women. I'd guess 5 to 1 ladies over men. So many ladies they converted one of the men's rooms to a lady's room...
I've been here two days now and NOT ONE lady has commented on my kilts. A couple of double takes or stolen glances, but no comments.
BUT - I've had at least a dozen men stop me and ask questions about my kilts. Even in the men's room and at the AA meeting after the workshops.
I don't ever recall having so many men interested in my kilts. Its usually the ladies. And none of the guy's questions are weird or sideways or teasing. They seriously want to know about the kilt. About half of them have offered up their ancestral clan information to me.
Go figure....????

That doesn't completely surprise me. I would say that more men ask me questions (almost always including "the question") about my wearing of kilts. There are some women who ask about them and 99% of the time it is "the question", but I think that more women look and are a bit more inhibited in discussing the kilt.

You have been such a good Ambassador for the Kilt, that no one is surprised to see you in one any more.
The wife and I went to a wedding reception over the weekend, and the Father of the Bride chided me with, "Gosh! I didn't recognize you without your kilt".
I confided with him of my personal policy of not taking attention away from the beautiful bride. What could he say, she's his daughter. A good laugh was had and a wonderful evening of celebration ensued.

I think it may have something to do with the field you are in, folks in recovery and recovery work are pretty understanding and open minded.I've been to some pretty "interesting" meetings and never been teased or bugged about my kilt.
I did walk into one meeting where the chair ( a guy with lots ot tats and big ear gauges) made a comment "Kick A@@ kilt dude!". I go to a Saturday breakfast men's meeting were if I'm not kilted they ask me what's wrong!
Ever notice how people comment on how well put together the kilt makes you look? It' just a blue shirt and cranberry hose, but some think its magic!
Cheers ith:

You are also in a university town with Flanagan's Celtic Corner selling kilts. And, some of us have been spotted wearing kilts down off the rim.
Kilt on, brother.

I was at a street fair over the weekend, and 80% of the folks that asked about my kilt were guys. Several wanted to know where they could get one. I was wearing an Alpha Kilt Compass model so I gave them the website, and THIS website.

Ron, you sound disappointed none of the ladies are commenting about your kilts. Don't worry, today is another day.
Kilt on!

Are you losing your touch with the ladies, or perhaps putting out a different kind of vibe to the guys? ;)
