Report on Dublin Pub
As far as I know, I was the only X-Marker at the Dublin Pub in Dayton last night to see That Celtic Band, Uncle Hamish and the Hooligans. Besides the band and myself, though, there were two other kilted fellows in the room, one in a UK and the other in a nice looking black Buzz Kidder canvas kilt that I mistook for a different kind. I chatted with the gentleman in the BK throughout the evening - he's not a member here, but says he drops by on occasions (so if you see this, greetings, Mike, pleasure meeting you, thanks for the drink - I have a better appreciation for whisky now).
As the evening wore on, a most attractive, well-dressed group of young people amassed near the bar where Mike and I were stationed. They were there for a wedding the next day and had just wrapped up their rehearsal dinner. The boys were mostly from Scranton, PA, and the girls were from northern Kentucky.
One young lady was just drop-dead gorgeous. She sat down on a barstool near me, so I decided to tell her what I thought. I leaned over her shoulder and spoke directly into her ear - probably way too forward of me, but necessary to be heard over a loud bar - and gave her my assessment with some carefully chosen words.
A few minutes later, someone tapped me on the shoulder and started speaking into my ear, "I don't know what you said to my wife..." I turned to see a tall, good-looking broad shouldered fellow and went on alert, "...but she said it's the nicest thing anyone has ever said to her. Let me buy you a drink."
Later when my glass was empty, after some protest on my part, I collected on another glass of Smithwick's.
Ah, the power of the k--- No, wait, the kilt had nothing to do with it.
Ah, the power of well-honed charm.
Regards,
Rex.

Reason: spelling
At any moment you must be prepared to give up who you are today for who you could become tomorrow.
