    My X-Kilt #2

I've been promising this thread for awhile, so here it is. My second x-kilt. For this one, I made it Rev-K rather than box pleat and I also made it to wear at my jeans waist rather than my kilt waist. First things first, here's the kilt in action at our local hay maze.

Here's a side shot showing the pleats and the pocket.

Here's some info on how I did it. I started with the Wizard of BC's measuring instructions posted in this thread. (They can also be found on his website.)

In laying out my kilt, I used the same fell-to-hem distance as my previous x-kilt. For the fell-to-waistband distance, I used the distance from the fell to the highest point of the waistband--the center back.

Once I had made the kilt through tapering the waist, I laid the kilt down and marked the waistband location by measuring down from the top based on my slope measurements. Here's a photo of the markings on the top of the kilt.

Next, I took a few deep breaths and cut along the dotted line. Here's the cut off portion.

From this point, it wasn't really any different than making a normal-rise x-kilt. The waist band was a bit trickier to attach because of the curve, but I managed to wrestle it in place.

I am really happy with the kilt and I will definitely make more like this one in the future. In fact, once I finished it, I was wearing it so often that it took me forever to get some pictures of it.

Thanks again to Alan H for the awesome X-Kilt Manual and to Sydnie 7 for the awesome RK Appendix! And thanks to the Wizard of BC for the measuring instructions. This one is my new favorite kilt thanks to you three.

Thanks Meinfs and 12Stones! I'd be wearing my new kilt today if it wasn't 12 degrees F here this morning.

I think mornings like these call for wool--the kilt, the hose, a sweater, and a hat!
