Hi all,

I haven't properly introduced myself yet, so I thought I'd better do that.

My name is Michael, and I've been playing bagpipes for a couple of years, and saxophone for about 15.

I was asked to pipe for a wedding in Spain last year for my friends- and also asked to wear "proper clothes". Happy to oblige, I ordered my first kilt (from Hector Russell) in ancient Gunn heavy-weight tartan, and a bunch of accessories (cheap) from ebay. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough to get a nice sporran, or fancy sgian dubh, or ghillie-brogues, still I was more or less happy with the outfit- and indeed everyone else was very enthousiastic- a large numeber of guys told me how jealous they were, that they had to wear boring suits (although, they did all look very sharp).

So that was my first kilt wearing experience. Worn it a few times since then, but not really out- until Burns night. So, if I can attach some pics, I'll let you see.

(as you can see, I found a better sporran, nice wood sgain, and ghillie-brogues that I bought in Scotland last year)

Nice to be here,

Cheers,

Michael
