Review of 4 yard box pleat
This is my first review, so I will try to do the best I can here:
I ordered a 4 yard box pleat from John, in January. This was after a month of him helping me decide which tartan I was going to go with, and finding that several of them were not available in kilt weight material. John was very helpful with the entire process of helping find the right tartan, which was not easy (I'm a pain when it comes to details).
I ordered my kilt in January with an estimated wait time of 16 weeks. There were a couple of delays in delivery, and it did not arrive in time for an event I had wanted it for. I think this is really a testament to just how in demand John's kilts are. I have never seen less than a 13 week wait on his website. I found his website very user friendly, and it is great that he posts and updates his wait/delivery time on his site. It really gives you perspective on how long to anticipate before completion.
The kilt arrived the first week of July, and is first rate. The material I chose is Gordon Huntly 2000. It fits great and looks awesome. John also went above and beyond to make up for the delay in delivery, with some added things. He really seems dedicated to customer service, and keeping the customer satisfied. Also, he informed me that he has brought on a person to deal with taking the orders and what not, so he has more time to dedicate to making the kilts. I do also have to say, that John really went the extra distance in advising me on what hose and tie would match well with the tartan I picked.
I also ordered a kilt for my son in Inglis Ancient. That should be here any day now. As soon as his kilt is here I will post a photo or two of both of us in our new kilts.
All in all, my experience with Keltoi was great. John is quick to respond to e-mails (24 hours or less), he double checks measurements before he starts the work, and his prices are more than reasonable. His attention to detail is great. He also packaged everything nicely, and the kilt did have basting stitches to hold the pleats in place, plus there was not a single wrinkle in the aprons.
I would recommend Keltoi to anyone. The customer service is top notch. Expect to wait for your kilt, but expect it to be first rate. Even with the wait time, he is still in line with most kilt makers as far as that is concerned, and actually much quicker than some of the other one person kilt makers out there.
