Kilted to observe total solar eclipse

Hi all kilted community,

I went to French Polynesia, more precisely on Hao atoll to observe the july 11th total solar eclipse. Of course I was kilted as usual to observe it with my "sloppy" McGregor polyviscose casual kilt.

Here is a picture taken by a member of the group during partial eclipse leading to totality. Notice also in the background an umbrella with a tartan rather similar with my kilt.

A nice shot of the kilt in action (albeit slow motion).

And, a nice photo of the eclipse as well. It reminded me of a show I saw recently about the use of eclipses in the proving of Einstein's theory of relativity (his second I think). At that time, there were astronomers from all over the world who spent years chasing eclipses around the globe trying to gather evidence that would either prove, or disprove, his theory.

And to tie it back in to this site,

the gentleman who provided the final supporting evidence was named William Wallace Campbell !!.

See how I did that??

That's quite awesome....well done! I had the great pleasure of witnessing the total solar eclipse of August 11, 1999 form the foot of the Alps in Southern Germany. We had to drive 15 miles in the last half hour before totality in order to escape the clouds. We did it with five minutes to spare! Much of Southern Germany including Muenchen was clouded out. We were so lucky to find blue sky. It is a magnificent sight! Your photo of totality is fantastic!
