Highland Cathedral box pleat
I had wanted to wait to review this until I had photographic evidence, but that might take a while. Just a couple of days after my birthday last week my new Keltoi Highland Cathedral box pleated kilt arrived, and it's a stunner. I wore it pretty much immediately, to a reception in honour of the launch of a new Edmonton-based art/politics/narrative journalism magazine called Eighteen Bridges, and the reviews were excellent. It is my second Keltoi kilt and if anything it is even more lovely than the first - something I would have deemed impossible. It fits perfectly, and the craft is evident in every stitch. The tartan - named after the famous pipe tune, written by Germans and heard at numerous rugby matches as well as at Madonna's wedding to Guy Ritchie - is gorgeous. I am a happy camper. Thank you, John / Slohairt. I look forward to the next one...

Congrats! Hopefully you'll be able to get some pics soon... I've never heard of Highland Cathedral before and I'm sure the Scottish Register of Tartans digital image doesn't do it justice.

Had too look up the song. Yes, I guess I have heard it before, just didn't recognize it from the name.

OH MAN! I had asked John about this tartan recently and was discussing it with him when he mentioned an XMarker had received a 16-17 oz. box pleat. I will anxiously await your pics.

Just went to the Keltoi webpage and looked up the Highland Cathedral pattern. What stunning colors and a great pattern! Please post pictures so we can see the kilt on you.

The first time I wore this kilt it was to a relatively formal affair, so I wore grey hose to match the Wallace jacket, with a violet shirt. Wearing the same kit with red makes the kilt look completely different in colour. I've also worn it with a green t-shirt, and with a blue formal shirt, and again, it looks very different.
So I love the tartan. And John's work is fabulous. No kilt I've worn has gotten the same level of positive comment. Oh, and he threw in the scarf - made from a remnant of the tartan - just because...

That's interesting how that tartan, when framed differently, takes on a different aspect... kind of like hazel eyes.
And the tartan scarf is awesome. Somehow better than tartan flashes or a tartan tie...
