    Sgian Fionn

Finished this up today and wanted to show it off. Being partial to bone, ivory, and horn this was a fun project. The handle is Axis deer which is very dense and solid so it makes a good medium to work with and has the look of old ivory. The pommel is a lapis stone set in steel and the hardwood sheath drying in the shop. The blade is about 3 3/4" and the handle is 4". I like this color combo since it goes good with my tartan. Again, feedback is welcome and sought. Thanks

    Very nice!

I like a slightly more gradual point, but that's only personal preference.

    Keep up the excelent work!

I do think I contacted you about making me one... My desire to buy one of your sgains has been reaffirmed.

Thanks for all the compliments. The first sgian I got was a Wilkinson and it had a spear point like this knife so when I grind I think of it, and I guess I have not gotten away from that yet. The lapis was a slate piece that I ground the bottom of conical and the mount is steel tube that I shaped to the handle. I use Devcon epoxy to hold it on and that stuff is pretty dang tough. Withstands about 1200 degrees and most of the time when I need to remove something that I glued on I have to destroy the handle to get it off.
Here is a pic of the completed version: Thanks for looking.
