Getting Friendly on the Trail
I've always trudged the trail to the Horseshoe Bend Overlook, being open, but not forward. Today I decided to be forward.
So everyone I passed on the trail I smiled and said "Good Afternoon." If they answered with an accent I asked where they were from.
Results - for an hour and 15 minutes of hiking were Hungary, Japan, Germany, Israel, Switzerland, Italy, Holland (explained the Dutch Friendship tartan kilt I was wearing), Belgium, England, India, France, and Siberia!
Many wanted pics. I got this one of me and a lovely Hungarian lass. TWO of the Siberian ladies wanted a pic but when it was my turn my camera's battery had died....groan....
The World comes to my little town. All I have to do to meet folks is be friendly.
Here's the pic with the Hungarian lass

And here's a view of what they come to see from Horseshoe Bend Overlook of the Colorado River in Glen Canyon.

I can't get enough of the view myself. Keep going back. A great training hike. Uphill in sand both ways and no shade.

It's amazing what a kilt and a smile will do.

Truly Ron you have an ability for cementing international relations.
Fabulous pics by the way, though the view could be a recipe for vertigo

Hey Alex,
Its a trip to watch what folks do on the edge of the canyon. Some stay way back. Some get down on their belly and inch out to the edge for a picture...a few even have friends hold their feet while they're on their belly. And others (who me?) hang ten on the lip of the canyon as if it were the most normal thing in the world.

Awesome pics. Wish your camera didn't die. I gotta try this kilted hiking thing.

Oh Ron
you always post pictures that make this Nevada girl smile and feel warm again! (It hasn't stopped raining in maine for 10 days......) BEAUTIFUL country!
I think like Hamish's "Collection" photos, one day we will have "Ron's collection" of yourself and girls on the trail attracted to you and your kilt......
