    My New Tank

    Hi All,

Here are a couple of pics of my new 16oz kilt in Stewart Black. The Arran was knitted by my mum and have included a close-up of my sporran.

I hope that everything looks OK, and whilst it is only pictures of a casual look, I have not gotten round to taking any with a more formal look (but will sort something out for you to look at and advise if I have anything wrong!).

Anyway here goes, and your comments are welcome. I just hope that they appear on the site!

    Kindest,

    Simon

    You look fine

Speaking personally, and not as a criticism, I would ditch the ghillies for a casual look and replace them with ordinary brogues. I might also add a touch of colour with the hose

Your mum does fine work with her knitting! That is a fantastic bit of hand-crafted goodness.

Thanks for the replies :-) Mum is currently in the process of knitting another one and I am looking at getting my hands on a pair of ordinary brogues. I appreciate that the Ghillies may be a bit to dressy for the look, but TBH that is all I could wear!

Any leather shoe will do in such casual gear.

I second the comments on the sweater, absolutely gorgeous.

    Re: My New Tank

All in all, that is a good look; one can't go wrong with a tank and a hand knit Arran sweater! The detailing on that sporran is also lovely.

If it were me though, I'd go for non-tartan flashes (any colour will do). I'd also be inclined to either wear a) other shoes or b) to at least put regular laces on those ghillie brogues. Both those things seem a bit overblown to me.

On the other hand, wearing an Arran is about the only time I would favour cream hose...

I echo the praise of the sweater as well as the kilt and sporran. Pardon me however for saying I like tartan flashes. It has nothing to do with level of formality with me. I just like them. Here's wishing you many years of good use with the tank.

    Simon,

Let me add my compliments to your mother, that is a very handsome sweater! I think the overall look you present is quite balanced and you look good.

    Cheers
