Dry Run for Paddy

Thought I do a quick Dry Run for St.Pats this year. The kilt had fallen off it's hooks in the wardrobe and was crumbled up in the bottom of the suit hanger. So some ironing required on the apron!
The hose I'm wearing have shrunk, but I have a nice new pair ready and waiting. The shoelaces broke, so that's another thing to be sorted before the big day! I think its a good idea to do a Dry Run, rather than flapping around all stressed on Paddy's morning.
I thought I'd skip the tie this year, I get these polo's from a sport shop. They sell them as ski wear and I must say, they look pretty sharp and a lot more comfortable than a tie and shirt.
I do like to do the full-monty Argyll and tie, but I generally like the casual day wear look a lot more. I invested in some easy hang sporran chains from bauhausboy on ebay last year...I love them! I always found the traditional chains show the beer gut a bit more.
The wife joined in for the fun....

You both look very smart. The black hose go well with your outfit. What colour is is the replacement pair?

For St. Pat's, you're probably fine but let me try to give you some more constructive feedback. Smart idea to do a dry run!
Beyond the hose being too small and the shoelace you already mentioned, the polo and tweed jacket combo don't work for me. That shirt is sporty and looks like it has a zipper, while the tweed with epaulettes and flap cuffs is very traditional; the two visually clash.
I can understand not wanting to wear a shirt and tie for a casual situation, so why wear that tweed if you are trying to dress down? I'd say you could pair that jacket with a shirt and no tie or perhaps a turtle neck sweater. If you want to stick with the polo, it looks like it would fit better with a fleece jacket or a windbreaker.
Nice harps, by the way. They really go with that tartan

You guys look great!
I do have to say that the harps in the background are beautiful. As an avid harp player, I have to ask: Are they Salvi or Lyon & Healy?

My wife is the Harpist, I can't remember which one is which, but she has both Salvi and Lyon & Healy Harps, these are just a few that she owns in the photo....we have a lot of harps in the house!

CmcG...thanks for the feed back...this is really why I decided to do the dry run. I think you're spot on. The sports polo is a little too casual, a more dressy Turtle Neck would be a better match. I have one but it a bit battered for wear. Perhaps I can pick up a new one for the day, but the nice ones ain't cheap, usually around the €60-70 price.
I also have a green moleskin traditional Jacobite shirt, but that give a whole other look. I have a waist coat that matches the Harris tweed Argyll, that goes well on it's own with the Jacobite shirt.
Anyway I'll post some more photo's to show the finally 'look' on the day. Be warned it could be radically different.

Your wife is a woman after my own heart!
Tell her for me: "feel the envy. feel the envy." ;)
As for the Paddy's day run:
I think the turtle neck idea is great. Just think you might be able to get one on sale because it is March and its heading into spring when turtle necks are cheaper priced. And you'd have it for next winter.
Your wife is really pretty with her red hair (gorgeous hair by the way) and that kilt looks great on her. What clan is it from?
