White Kilt Hose versus Black Kilt Hose
It seems that black is becoming the dominant colour for kilt hose, not only for casual wear but for formal wear and even in kilt band uniforms which were predominantly white hose.
I prefer black hose with formal dress although I see nothing wrong with white, many people say that white hose are much smarter looking.
When casual and wearing the scrunch down hose I prefer white.
So whats the current thinking on this black and white issue or is it just a matter of personal choice?

I like neither. They both look too drastic to me, and throw off the aesthetic proportions of the rest of the outfit. (I feel the same about bright red or yellow too.)
I much prefer coloured hose that's in a medium shade. Or patterned (diced or Argyle) hose for 'formal' wear. The closest I'll get to white is a tan shade, and the closest I'll get to black is a charcoal grey.
But, each to his own!

I suppose each to his own but I could only ever wear black or white, I am opposed to any other shade or colour as you are to black or white. Funny world if we were all the same!

Yup, I'm glad everyone thinks differently. What a boring world it would be if we all thought the same and dressed the same.
But I'm curious. Why are you opposed to coloured hose? Why only wear the extreme ends of the spectrum?

Answer to your question--it is, indeed, a matter of personal choice.

I'll apologize now.
As you've already seen, this isn't a black-or-white question. Bwa-ha-ha-ha.

I only own black kilt hose. One reason is because I'm too skeptical over how well I'd appear with wearing any other colour. Another reason is that it seems to go with almost everything. (Almost, mind you.) So it comes down to a personal choice. Though, I'm highly curious about the Argyll hose and the diced topped hose...

I own and wear a variety of coloured hose, two pairs of which are black. I have never worn white hose. I think it must be an old RAF thing.
