Fettercairn
Many threads ago, Jock Scott made a passing reference to the Fettercairn Distillery located near where he lives. Its products are a fairly recent addtion to what's "available" in the U.S. even though it's been in business for 2 centuries. Just today I found mention of the distillery on a website (unimportant which one, a news site of some sort), but it made me wonder whether the parking lot is a good spot for exotic automobile afficionados. While in reverie about a possible next trip to Scotland, I thought of paying a visit to the place, but then peeked at their pricing (a 50 yo Single Malt for $22,000 US per bottle). What I saw suggests that's their "ordinary" release. This one is $37,000 per bottle. Guess I'll never find that on amazon!
Apparently they have a unique way of condensing the distillate that concentrates the fruity notes.
Jock, do you know if someone who flies to Edinburgh in economy class can AFFORD to walk through their doors? Will that be rewarded by a purchase that can actually be enjoyed by mere mortals?
