What about Glengarries? They have a peak (actually 2).
I wear flat caps with kilts in a much more 'contemporary way' and believe they look very smart with a kilt. It's also a matter of personal opinion and how one chooses to 'accessorise' their kilt.

I agree that the deep back caps look a bit... well... odd. Olney of England (a cap company) makes this style as well as 'normal depth' caps. To me, the deep back caps FEEL like they're too big when worn as they cover too much of my head. When I saw one on someone else, I didn't much care for the deep back either. Using Puffer's picture, IF this were an Olney DEEP BACK cap (which it is not... this is a Hanna Hat 'Vintage Cap' model hat), the back would dip down drastically and stop about an inch above his pony tail:

IMHO, one of the major reasons I am "hooked" on kilts, is the "flexability" in the LOOK.
(from "historical" to Contemporary) One of the things that can Change your look, is the HAT. A TOS gives one look & a "flat cap"another. I wear a Flat cap ( also known as a "news boy" etc) to convay a "casual business" or Contempory look ( my favorite) Here is a picture of a "contemporaryLook" NOTE the hat is NOT "Hanna" but sim., & as $$ become avail, it will be replaced with a "Hanna"

Puffer, looking sharp bro! Who's cape is that? Wouldn't be from ECW, would it??
I think flatcaps look great, on other people. I don't have the head for one and I've never liked the look of them on me.
I worked in a institutional kitchen for quite some time. One day, the boss decided that we'd all wear white flatcaps as part of our uniforms, bought them, passed them out and patted himself on the back. And I refused to wear it. I wore the ball cap instead. He threatned, he yelled and finally wrote me up. I said it wasn't necessary, I quit.
That wasn't the only reason though. But it sure was fun...

It most certainly did... thank you!
For the back of your head, you could try standing facing away from a mirror, with the camera pointed back over your shoulder to photograph the reflection.

I've always thought a flat cap (by whatever name you call it) looks good with a kilt for casual attire, especially in tweed.
I don't subscribe to the logic that a peaked hat does not look appropriate with Highland dress, as the Highland bonnet of old was often worn pulled forward to create just such a peak.
Here's a photo example from Russet Lodge.

It is an Inverness "ultimate" Cape from "Mister Anthony"
Here in Seattle it is a nessesity, along with a good hat.

I only bought my first flat cap from Target almost two years ago. It was $7. I've been VERY happy with it. Wool, lined & formed. Its a gray plaid with white & black. Love it.
I also REALLY like the cap that Brad Pitt has been repeatedly photographed in. Anybody know what brand?
Puffer, you look quite distinguished!

Jock Scot has said that there are many pictures of gentalmen wearing flat caps and kilts together, but after the first world war, that stopped.
I am afraid I have found that the flat cap looks wrong when worn with a kilt to the eyes of the Scots on the forum whether it was worn historically or not. I have sensed that it looks very wrong to them...
Because of this, I have stopped wearing flat caps with the kilt.

The only reason I don't is because none of my kilts match the cap. Otherwise...
